Ankle Pain Patient Background

Ankle Pain Treatment Program
September 25th, 2019
We are presenting a case today of a middle-aged female who was diagnosed with a high grade tear in the posterior tibialis tendon along the inner ankle. She also has underlying flat feet known as pes planus in her history.
She tried all types of conservative treatment to get it better, which did not help. She saw an orthopedic surgeon a few times who put her in an Air cast, recommended ice and anti-inflammatories. The foot and ankle pain just continued to get worse and he recommended surgery. She was told that she would have to be off of her feet for a few months and it could take up to a year to recuperate.

Combination Treatment Program

We evaluated the patient and treated her with stem cell therapy using bone marrow and fat grafting to the right ankle on one occasion and on another occasion specifically for the tendon we treated her here with PRP and then an amniotic tissue graft.

Positive Patient Outcome

The patient was seen today for a followup visit over a year after the last treatment. She reported her foot and ankle pain are gone and she was very pleased with the results and that the problem was solved without surgery.
