Severe Bone On Bone Osteoarthritis
Today, we completed treatment on a 73-year-old gentleman who has used his hands all his life and developed pain in the thumbs, which we diagnosed as severe bone on bone osteoarthritis.
He had constant daily pain in his wrists and thumbs, especially with activity, grasping things, and using tools, etc.
We put him through a treatment course of injections of autologous platelet-rich plasma into his wrist and thumbs for four treatment sessions initially and now we see him once in a year and his pain relief revealed no pain in the right wrist and thumb and minimal to no pain on the left side.
This is a case study demonstrating the powerful anti-inflammatory effects of PRP injections, despite in this case, having bone on bone arthritis of the thumbs.
